10 hour cycle challenge

Members v Staff charity event

We had a fantastic time at our Staff v Members Cycle Challenge!

Our recent 10 hour charity cycle challenge was emphatically won by over 20km by the members’ team. The Pulse 8 staff team battled valiantly throughout the day but, in the end, the Olympic Champion Will Satch gave the members’ team an unbeatable advantage. He achieved an incredible 43km, closely followed by, Pulse 8 member Kevin Jones who rode a massive 39.7 km!

Andy Clarke, our Health and Safety Manager, was the highest achieving member of staff with a distance of 35.2 km, closely followed by Danny Crossland, Club Director and Sean Barley our CEO.

Raising the heat

It was the hottest day of the year so far with temperatures outdoors reaching well over 30°! With the event generating even more heat indoors, we sent the temperature through the roof.

The event was to help celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Charity, who are working towards building Berkshire’s first children’s hospice at its site in Woodlands Park.

Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice

Celebrating its milestone 10 year anniversary this year, the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Charity are launching its “ten4ten” campaign.  The charity is working towards building Berkshire’s first children’s hospice at its site in Woodlands Park and hopes that communities will come together to raise a huge £10,000 boost to get them closer to their target of opening in autumn. The new hospice will provide much needed respite, palliative and end-of-life care for children in the region who currently have nowhere to go.

Creating a sanctuary

The hospice will provide a place of safety and refuge for families on a painful journey. A place to create wonderful memories, where every child is precious and cherished. The Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice will be a place of sanctuary, where beautiful facilities, including a music room, a sensory room and hydrotherapy facilities will help countless children.

Pulse 8 and Nirvana Spa will be continuing their support of this incredible charity by committing to maintain the hydrotherapy facilities after the planned opening this autumn.

The charity is already supporting 99 families in our region with a team of nurses and have completed the build of the new hospice. Whilst it remains unfurnished for the moment, the charity awaits the outcome of its application to the Care Quality Commission.

We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated in support of this amazing charity and hope that you’ll continue your support as we follow the charity up to and beyond its proposed opening this autumn.

There’s still time to donate! →
