Pre-Workout Smoothie

Get energised for a workout with this delicious green smoothie.

The best kinds of pre-workout foods are those filled with high-quality protein, healthy fats, and the right combination of simple and complex carbohydrates.

According to research, eating a banana before your workout is as beneficial as drinking a sports drink, plus bananas are rich in antioxidants and potassium which can aid in maintaining muscle and nerve function. The oats in this recipe will give you a steady release of energy throughout your workout. We love to add some Chia seeds which are rich in fibre, omega-3 fats, protein, vitamins and minerals.

Ingredients

2 handfuls fresh spinach

450 ml almond milk

1 large apple, cored

1 banana

5 tbsp. rolled oats

1 tbsp. coconut oil

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tbsp. chia seeds

Pre-Workout Smoothie

Directions

  1. Place all the ingredients into a blender
  2. Start on a low speed, slowly increasing to high
  3. Blend until smooth, about 1 minute

Tips

For maximum performance, drink your smoothie 30-60 minutes before a workout.
